Missing items----

Yesterday there were 4 wiimotes. Today there was 1. The rules are pretty simple around here, when you watch a movie, you put it back in the case it came out of. When you play a wii game you put it back in the case it came out of. When you are done playing the wii, you put the wiimote back on the charger, so the next time you want to play... they are charged.

So how did I go from 4 wiimotes to 1? Apparently Not Me, that horrifyingly awful little ghost child came in, in the dead of the night, and hid 3 of the wiimotes.

I absolutely hate when Not Me visits. It takes forever to find anything. This afternoon it took the girls 1.5 HOURS to find 2 of the 3 missing wiimotes. They arent too happy, there will be no wii, no TV, and no computer games until the final wiimote is found.

I tried the same consequences on my clothes dryer, because it tends to lose socks. So far it hasnt responded. :/

There is a reason for bedtime

Its not so that parents can eat the good things in life, like oreos, chocolate cake, apple pie, or ice cream.

Its not so we can watch the BEST TV shows without the kids!

Okay, I know South Park isnt the BEST TV show... but I know a 6 yr old that thinks it is, and gets upset when its watched after his bedtime!! Why would an adult watch a cartoon without the kids, ya know?

One day they will figure out its because they needed the sleep. Until then we all get to put up with the crankasauraus Rexs of the world when they dont get enough sleep.

Last night was no exception for Ms. Devil Child. regular routine, supper around 6, bath time around 7. Bedtime between 8-830. Round 1 I say go to bed now. She goes. 10 minutes later I hear footsteps. I say go to bed. She goes. Round 2 through 22 are a repeat of the same.

I think she FINALLY crashed around 11pm. This morning the price was high.... I woke her up at 650. her bus comes at 740. Putting clothes on was a nightmare. Socks? OMGeez the seam at the end of the sock has to go just RIGHT over the toes or it is a lawsuit waiting to happen! Shoes? Who am I kidding. The last thing that child wanted to do was put on shoes today. She tried to sleep standing up while I yanked and tugged at her hair, getting it into a piggy tail on top of her head.

I sang the morning song on the way to the bus stop... I got yelled at to shut up.

Dont worry, Tom the talking Cat entertained her the last 5 minutes before the bus came, and she perked right up.

Im a bit peeved....

And it wasnt even my money!

My friend Jess ( over at Anchor's Away blog) went to Build-a-Bear with her husband and 3 young children, to build bears from daddy, prior to deployment. She spent an arm and a leg on 3 bears, the clothing and the pre-recordable voicebox for each bear. While checking out, one of the voice boxes died. They had her husband re-record on a new box and put it in the bear.

Not even 2 days into this deployment, another bear voicebox has died. The Bear surgeon at B-a-B thinks the voice message can be saved, that the "battery" died, and they removed the voicebox from the bear, and shipped it off to be "saved". It should be back in 6-8 wks.

In the event that it can't be saved it was suggested they could send a voicebox to daddy and he could re-record and send it back to be inserted into the bear. The issue is... daddy is not on vacation. He isnt on a large ship that has mail service for boxes to and from the ship. They get mail drops. A helicopter comes to the ship and drops the mail on the helo pad once a week or so. Mail does go out, but generally speaking it goes out when they port. Daddy could potentially beat the voicebox back to the states, given the up to 2 months to try and save the first one and who knows how long if they tried to ship one to him and have him send it back....


5 YEARS ago, another friend of mine went through this same ritual with Build-a-Bear. Her husband was fixin' to deploy and they took their 3 little ones in for the same reason.... making bears with daddy's voice. They had a horrible time, with 2 of the 3 bears, and lost the voicebox long before the deployment was over.

My biggest disappointment in this company is not that their items occasionally falter. Its that this is obviously a KNOWN issue over the past 5 yrs (just ask around the military community, its happened to a lot of people with deployed loved ones.)

Knowing that the get a good deal of business from families in these circumstances, and that the issue dates back to at least 2006 if not further back... one would think they would look into better materials (even at a higher cost to the consumer). When you want something a certain way, and you pay for it to be that way, it should last more than a couple days.

Durhamtown Plantation or Bust!

Its that time of year again. This spring we are taking the buggies to Georgia to Durhamtown Plantation.  Time to start the check list-----

Cabin Rental        CHECK!

yeah thats about as far as I can get on the check list, packing, laundry, dog items etc cant be done until the day before.


Im excited though, this means spring is coming!!! No more crap weather!

Lazy Day

Or as close as it gets, before gearing up to go back to class. Spring Break was entirely too short! I did do some housework, simply because had I NOT done housework, it would never get done. A little vacuuming, hooting and hollering at the kids to pick up toys, and cooking supper counts right?

I spent a little bit of time sewing today (not a whole lot) Got the name put on the back of a jacket for a friend

I do like the baseball font. I will probably wind up making shirts for Mr Digger and myself for lil dude's ball games, and probably devil childs' as well.

Then I made 2 hair bows. 1 because devil Child insisted that I make one to match her favorite shirt. However that shirt is her favorite today, I doubt it will be tomorrow. LOL

The second bow, for baseball (tee-ball) she was very excited and tried to give me pointers on how to make this one!

15 years ago today, I gave birth to a perfectly beautiful baby boy. Too beautiful to stay on earth for long.

Not a day goes by, that I dont miss my boy. One thing I've found, about death, no matter who tells you it will get easier, it never does. No matter who tells you the pain will fade, it doesn't.  Its one of those things, that no parent should ever have to go through, yet its one of those things that I know far too many people who have had to go through.

Today is the day my life changed in the blink of an eye. 15 yrs ago today I felt a love like nothing else, and a loss that equals the joys.

Time is Money, Right?!

Which is why Im sharing this... I started buying glasses through Zenni Optical last year, when  a friend told me about their dirt cheap pricing. Some children, who shall remain un-named lost my ONE pair of glasses while away on a weekend buggy trip about a year ago.

I was distraught. I had paid $250 for those glasses and I certainly didnt have $250 to buy another pair... plus my prescription had expired, but that is another story LOL

 My daughters prescription is a progressive as she is legally blind in one eye, and not far behind in the other, so hers run a wee bit more, but regardless under $100 for what would cost me around $1200 at Lenscrafters, Pearl, Walmart, Sears or any other vision chain in the US.
